Seems Ok so far, but when fitting the plumber remarked that the shower inlet was incompatable with that on the shower unit being replaced. If you ever find there is water coming from the bottom of your electric shower, it may very well be that the PRD (Pressure Relief Device) has activated. Many of the Bristan showers also benefit from a safety device that will shut down the shower should one of the water supplies fail. The hose to the shower head was long but the shower head was not to my liking as the spray was too wide and not adjustable.Indeed, it could be an element itself, if one of the elements inside heating tank has burnt out then the shower will only be working at half power.
These Bristan Electric Showers are one of the most versatile showers installed in your bathroom or ensuite. Depending on the manufacturer and shower model, a flow valve could be either a very simple, like the Redring valve above on the left, or a fairly sophisticated device, like the stabiliser valve/pressure switch assembly used in many Triton showers seen on the right.
The Bristan pressure relief diaphragm (131-308) is a genuine, brand new Bristan product, covered by a minimum 1 year Bristan manufacturer's guarantee. The TCD will switch off the power to the heating elements and once the unit cools down to a safe temperature, will come on again. If this keeps happening though, or indeed the shower gets far too hot, it cuts out completely and will need replacing. Testing the solenoid coil is fairly straightforward with a standard multimeter: make sure the shower is switched off, multimeter is set to Ohms, then place the probes on the 2 coil terminals (highlighted in red). Within the range there are two popular power showers, the 1000 and 1500, both power showers are supplied complete with a riser rail kit that includes the handset and shower hose, power showers have a built in pump that produces a fast flow of mixed hot and cold water, they can only be used with gravity fed systems but are worth considering especially if you prefer a powerful and invigorating shower.A shame, as the old one was also Bristan, so you would have thought a newer shower head would be even better! On/Off is operated by a Push-Button, ensuring temperature setting remains unaffected after each use.
